This reworking of a timeless classic sets out what’s gone wrong and what still needs to be done about it. Expanded by 15 additional sections of new content, this third edition of Relationship Fundraising not only brings the text up to date but also sets out a road map for the changes fundraisers should make now, so that campaign fundraising can achieve its full potential for good in the 2020s and beyond.

Ken Burnett uses words to provoke change, challenging, stimulating, informing and inspiring to help organizations and their supporters make the differences they want to see to change the world for the better. This time, in addition to encouraging continuous advances in the donor-based approach to the business of raising money, this book will catalyze real, lasting change, in the process enriching the lives of fundraisers, their donors and the people, issues and causes that together they transform, around the world.

Praise for Relationship Fundraising Third Edition:

Gosh!  Coming back to a reference text after thirty years you forget just how powerful are the ideas and the words.   And the sheer joy of the writing.

If there are any of you who haven’t read the original, you must read this.   You just must.   No other book on fundraising comes close to Ken Burnett’s latest.

If you think thirty years old means dry and dusty, Shakespeare’s Henry V is over three hundred years old.   [And yes, they are both masters of their respective arts.]

Then, there’s another whole layer to the cake.   Ken’s take on what’s happened in the fundraising world since the original:

  • -       The concept of ‘the support experience’
  • -       Expanding on the way in which donors should choose what they receive
  • -       The importance of investing in fundraising
  • -       The significant emotional benefits of giving

-       And the way the fundraising sector responded to the catastrophe of 2015.   If you didn’t live through it, Ken will help you comprehend it.   Those  who forget history are condemned to repeat it.”

Finally, when it comes through the post, make sure you’re well stocked up on tea and biscuits.   And prepare to be delighted. - Giles Pegram CBE

Worth it just for the updated content!

I have both first and second editions of this, and the additions made for the third edition are really insightful and valuable. This is a highly relevant and pertinent resource for anyone exploring the specific field of relationship fundraising.
