A delightful and inspiring read!

Unlike a “how to” piece, the Nonprofit Book of Wisdom by Sheree Allison is overflowing with the smarts, transparency, and grit that only someone with her passion, experience and record of success could conjure.

Yet it is vulnerable and caring – overflowing with stories of conquests and failures all woven with humor that keeps you smiling while totally engaged with the dialogue.

And, entertaining as it is, it’s also chocked full of street-smart advice and tangible tools on running a non-profit successfully that beginning executive directors must learn and seasoned ones will ask, “Why didn’t someone tell me this long ago?”

A must read for EDs, yes AND their Boards. - Marcy Heim, The Artful Asker

Chock full of insight, stories and lessons

A delightful mix of memoir and how-to, useful for new Executive Directors and great reminders for veterans.

Chock full of insight, stories and lessons from years of experience and reflection. This book will be helpful to EDs and anyone working with an ED.

An accessible and handy book about how to be a great executive director combined with fun stories and novel approaches to everything from staff recruitment to dealing with gossip. Useful for people new to their job, considering entering the nonprofit field, or simply wanting a reminder about why we do this work and how we can do it better.

What Would Sheree Do?

You should read this book if you are the executive director of a nonprofit,
whether you are newly promoted or experienced but believe you can do better
still. It’s also insightful if you are thinking of entering the charity world and want
an honest view of the foibles that make this sector unique and challenging. ...You’ll want to reread this book once a year (or more often) as issues confront you and you wonder What Would Sheree Do? You may not agree with every idea, but Sheree will get you thinking creatively. Ken Wyman, Fundraising Consultant and Professor Emeritus
